Band Festival Tomorrow

The first Hempfield Marching Band Festival was held on October 24, 1970.

BAND FESTIVAL TOMORROW - Hempfield Area Senior High School will hold its first marching band festival tomorrow at 8 p.m. at Spartan Stadium. Raindate is November 7. Pictured above with the trophies for the festival are (l-r) Robin Spohn, Donna Tennant, both band members and band director Jack Irwin.

Bands participating include Hempfield Area, Norwin, Franklin Regional, East Allegheny, Wilkinsburg, Yough, Penn High, Brownsville and Connellsville. The festival is non-competitive but each band will receive a trophy.

Each band will execute a show of approximately 10 minutes. Colorguards and majorettes will also perform.

Kenneth Ruoff, superintendent of Hempfield Area School District, will extend the welcome and also present the trophies. Proceeds of the festival will be used toward the band's trip to the Cotton Bowl.
