The first Hempfield Marching Band Festival was held on October 24, 1970. Hempfield Spartan Band Off for Orlando Visit

Leaving this morning from Greater Pittsburgh International Airport for Orlando, Florida, the 180-person contingent will combine performances at a by-invitation only "adjudgment" or competition evaluated by professional musicians; will march in a parade in "Disney World" and combine talents with a Georgia group for a concert—in addition to having a lot of fun.
